The Golden Hour!?!

The Golden Hour is the first hour after birth when mother and baby have skin to skin contact. This is a special and magical time because the baby is content and just wanting to nurse. While the baby stays warm and cozy on its mother, its heart rate, breathing and blood sugar are all stabilizing.

The Golden Hour is important because it is the time the baby learns to nurse but

also bonds with its mother while acclimating to the world outside of the womb and simultaneously decreasing any stress the baby has endured during the birthing process.

The Golden Hour can also be beneficial to postpartum recovery because while it facilitates bonding, it inevitably helps with perinatal mood disorders by building confidence for the new mother. The bonding period allows for the exchange of hormones between mother and child to further increase this process. This period of time is so important that it can even aide in the mother/child bond for years after :)

How sacred is this!?!
